Kate Mechan is Executive Director of Safe at Home Society on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council in Whitehorse, Yukon. She has worked for that past 16 years in the Yukon and in the past 5 years, has grown an organization that reaches a broad cross section of the community, aiming to be adaptive and nimble around the ever-changing context of the crisis of houselessness. Outside of work, Kate is a sessional instructor at Yukon University in the Social Work program and is mom to two quirky kids, 10 and 14.
